RMNP: Trail Ridge Road

We spent a month in Loveland, Colorado to explore Rocky Mountain National Park. Our first adventure in the area was the scenic drive on Trail Ridge Road. Trail Ridge Road is the most popular scenic drive through RMNP. It is the world’s highest continuous paved highway, topping out at 12,183 feet. The 48 mile road connects the park’s gateways of Estes Park and Grand Lake.

Here is some wildlife we saw along the drive:

Comfortable seat and nice view

View from the top and above the clouds…

Grand Lake…

Estes Park is the home of a famous building. Do you recognize it?

How about now?

The hotel where the Shining was filmed is here with a make-shift maze like in the movie.

  1. You take some beautiful photos. Yes I agree that the drive on Trail Ridge is amazing and you feel close to how you think heaven
might be. Enjoy your time there taking in all the beauty. You have seen a lot of beauty on your adventures. What a great time. We just returned from a short trip to Gunnison and Crested Butte, Colorado. This too is a beautiful area with all the mountains, lakes and flowers. When will you be back in Texas?

    1. Thanks Sue. Glad you like the pics. Most of the pics are taken by Scott. I am a terrible photographer. When we get back to CO we want to get to Gunnison and Sand Dunes.
We are not sure exactly when we will be back in Texas. Probably the beginning of the year or so. Hope we can get together if your in town. Take care.
