Yellowstone – Grand Prismatic Spring, Fairy Falls, & Imperial Geyser

The Fairy Falls hike is one of the most popular and rewarding hikes in the park. The trail begins with a 0.5 mile steep climb to the Grand Prismatic Overlook. The remainder of this 5 mile roundtrip hike is relatively flat to first, Fairy Falls, then Imperial Geyser.

What is there to say about this spring? It is spectacular with all the colors of the rainbow that are so bright and vivid. Grand Prismatic is the largest hot spring in the US and the third largest in the world.

Fairy Falls has about a 200 ft drop and we enjoyed a nice snack here on our way back from Imperial Geyser.

We were able to get really close to this geyser and could feel the immense heat it generates. It made the air around it very humid. (My hair was not happy.) The sulfur smell was overwhelming as we stood and took pictures.
