That’s Right, We Badlands

We spent several weeks in South Dakota exploring different parts of the state. Two of those weeks were spent in Interior, SD (population 67) learning about Badlands National Park.

So what are Badlands? Badlands are a type of dry terrain where softer sedimentary rocks and clay-rich soils have been extensively eroded. They are characterized by steep slopes and minimal vegetation.

I think the pictures speak for themselves, Enjoy!

  1. Wow great photos again . I guess you also took the drive called Needles. We drove that a few years. So amazing. Some of the other drives had a lot of wildlife. We loved our trip to SD.

    1. Hi Sue, Thank you for the compliment. I think Scott takes great pictures too. We did go on the Needles Hwy and Custer State Park. That will be in the next blog. Hope you and Ed are doing well. I know you are headed back to Houston in October – be safe.

  2. Wow, Sue is correct, more wonderful photos, really enjoyable. Thank you for taking us with you on the journey.
    Where too next?
    Love you Glynda and Casper

    1. Wish I could actually take you on our journey. Miss you. We are currently in Kanab, UT to do some hiking. Really far behind on the blog posts. Kiss little Casper for us. Love you!!!

  3. I am surprised to see that much wild life in the Bad Lands since it looks like there is not much if any vegetation. I love seeing the wild life. I am so frightened with height, I could never go many places you go. Also you have your age as a factor. So great that you can do all of this when you are still young, you are having an experience not many can have. Stay safe .
